Discover’s Advanced Energy System 42-48-6650 battery can act both as a lead acid battery replacement or as an advanced energy solution by taking advantage of the smart Battery Management System (BMS) and its communication capabilities.
The Discover AES 42-48-6650 is the largest 48V Lithium battery that Discover Battery has to offer, and inside its interior there is a cell block with the BMS on top.
The cells are attached in series and parallel, allowing the current flow to go through the cell. The mechanical structures that run throughout the cell block help to tie it to the battery case and create a coupled mass to maintain its stability during certification testing and daily use. This Discover AES battery is certified to UN38.3, UL1973, and UL2271.
The cell block also has large plates for series connections that help increase current and power abilities, and at the same time add more robustness to the construction of the cell block. (PIC). Also, inside the cell block there is an array of temperature sensors, which can also be found on the Solid State Relay and the BMS (that can paint a robust picture of what the thermal profile is at any given time).
It also clear that there are no wiring harnesses. The main current goes through BusBar (72 millimeter squared bar) and not through cables.
Then we have the BMS package, which can be pulled right off the cell block and placed on any voltage variation that Discover AES battery has. The BMS on the Discover AES 42-48-6650 battery is composed of two boards: the Solid State relay and the main digital board.
The Solid State Relay also has BusBar so the battery can carry high current through the Bar as supposed to just the copper on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Discover AES is also internally fused, one more protective measure in the battery.
Now we are going to talk about the BMS. Taking advantage of the communication and other features that the board offers like passive balancing, voltage monitoring, current monitoring, among others, this BMS allows Discover Battery to offer an advanced energy solution and not just a lead acid battery replacement.
